I have played both of the 'cars' games based on the movie.
This one is more like an activity center. Quick and easy-to-master mini games are available to play. These mini-games open up quick 'races' where you simply click your mouse at the proper time to change gears and keep picking up speed. You have no other control over any other aspect of the race. There are a few other things to see and do, but the 20$ price tag is really what this is worth. My 7 year old worked through this in just a little over 4 hours. He's played it twice more, so the game does keep him interested. It IS very colorful and has the actual voices from the movie as well. This is about 500 Meg in size. It is good. But, the other 'Cars' game that is actually a game with races and total control of your car is much better. I rated that one a 5 star. It is more like a family-friendly Grand-theft Auto 3. Also similar to Simpsons hit and run.
The kids will love this one, but they didn't really offer enough content to make this game a 5 star product.
